Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)
ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is a technology
for transmitting digital information at a high bandwidth on
existing phone lines to homes and businesses. Unlike regular
dialup phone service, ADSL provides continously-available,
"always on" connection. ADSL is asymmetric in that it uses
most of the channel to transmit downstream to the user and
only a small part to receive information from the user. ADSL
simultaneously accommodates voice calls on the same line.
Our iSpeed ADSL service is a basic unlimited offering
without a guaranteed committed information rate (CIR). iSpeed
ADSL will be available in all of the FSM states, within 4.5
miles of the following locations: Kolonia CO, Palikir, South
East Remote, Chuuk CO, Kosrae CO, and Yap CO and a designated
ADSL-equipped wire center. All ADSL services will be subject
to availability. Due to the unpredictable nature of the copper
plant, service requests will only be accepted after line is
tested.
Home iSpeed ADSL: Home ADSL services will
be subject to availability and an acceptable usage policy.
Home ADSL will not have any SLA associated with the service,
and in the event of a failure it will be repaired when
possible.
